Alaro

Whilst many of you have visited Alaró before, some of you will be experiencing this wonderful location for the first time.

Alaró has been the setting for years of holidays for Emma with family, friends

and the mountain goats strolling the hills. Whilst for Tom, Alaró has become a home away from

home over the past few years. Together, Emma and Tom love the location, way of life, adventures

and nightlife on offer.

Alaró is a town nestled in a peaceful valley on the southern slopes of the Tramuntana mountain

range with a setting that is as splendid as it is secluded, but there's a lot of fun to be had within

its cobbled streets, as we have discovered over the years. Morning coffees at Can Fressa,

walks to Es Verger, lazing by the pool and partying in the town square, you'll find the perfect balance of life.

For the outdoor lovers, Alaró provides a perfect base for those keen to explore some exemplary

Mallorcan countryside. Keen hikers and cyclists will find no shortage of pine-fringed trails

and well-maintained mountain roads for exploring the scenic surrounds and beyond.

Despite its authentic sleepy-village vibe, rural location and easy charm the town square and exceptionally stroll-able surrounding streets come alive thanks to its buzzing evening atmosphere and the locals' lust for a celebration. I'm sure they will enjoy all of us descending on their home!

For the party-goers amongst us, the town's sleepy demeanour gives way to numerous festivals, markets, nightlife and al fresco dining as the tranquillity is replaced with a riot of parades, dancing and music which will provide much fun during your stay.

Our recommendations

Whether it's food and drink, lazing by the pool or embarking on a walk or cycle, follow in our footsteps to enjoy the best of Alaró

Bars & Restaurants

Alaró 's town square is home to the large majority of the town's bars and restaurants and most evenings you will find a good atmosphere and al fresco dining.

Some of the bars we love include Can Fressa, Ca'n Punta, Traffik and the place where many a night has continued late into the early hours,  Acros.

Away from the main square, you will find El Trastero Cuina just to the north west of the centre of town, a bar and restaurant which is located in a a quieter square but just as charming.

Cycling & Walking

Being on the edge of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, Alaró is a hub for cyclists in the autumn months. Hiring bikes for a few hours to explore or setting off on foot are both great ways to experience Alaró . Some of our favourite walking and cycle routes include discovering Alaró 's many lanes and tight streets, embarking up the hill to the most glorious lamb restaurant, Es Verger or taking the trail to the north west of Alaró up the hill towards Orient. Es Verger

Es Verger is a stunning rustic lamb restaurant around a 2 hour walk up the hill towards Castell d'Alaró . Featured by Rick Stein on his BBC food programme, it's well worth a visit for the walk, the views and the food! This is where you'll find the best lamb on the island! It's open 365 days a year... well, apart from the day we hiked up the hill only to find it was unexpectedly closed! You can drive up the hill as well should you have a hire car, but the walk is well worth the effort.

Castell d'Alaró

If the walk to Es Verger didn't make you tired, you can continue up the mountain road for another 45 minutes to reach Castell d'Alaró . You'll be greeted by the ruins of the old castle, a youth hostel complete with a bar and spectacular views across Mallorca.

Fira Gremial

Annually scheduled for the first Sunday of October, this one-day Artisan Fair celebrates the island’s traditional culinary delights, drinks and crafts . The whole town is filled with stalls serving up the local cuisine and the bars are full of atmosphere. It's easy to get carried away at the festival. Last year a proposed quick look at the stalls ended up being a 9 hour day out with plenty of drinks flowing. In 2025 the festival will be held on Sunday 5th October and is a brilliant experience.
